Neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based therapy for ADHD, autism, and related needs.

Meet Teesh

Jaitesha “Teesh” Hanson, LMHC, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Neurodiversity Specialist at TrueCandor Behavioral Health. She is passionate about helping neurodivergent individuals better understand themselves, recognize their strengths, and develop strategies that support the way their minds naturally work.

Teesh works with children, teens, adults, and older adults, with a particular focus on individuals with ADHD, autism, and other neurodivergent experiences. She understands that navigating a world that isn’t always designed for different ways of thinking, learning, and processing information can come with unique challenges.

Her goal is to create a therapeutic environment where clients feel understood, respected, and supported without having to change or hide important parts of who they are.

Her Approach to Therapy

Teesh believes that effective therapy begins with understanding the individual, not simply focusing on a diagnosis or set of symptoms.

She takes a neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based, and assessment-informed approach, recognizing that each person’s experiences, abilities, and support needs are different.

Rather than expecting clients to adapt to a rigid therapeutic structure, Teesh works collaboratively with them to identify approaches that fit their individual needs and goals.

Her work often focuses on emotional regulation, identity development, self-understanding, and building practical skills that support everyday functioning.

She helps clients explore how their nervous systems operate, recognize patterns in their experiences, and develop tools that feel realistic and sustainable for their lives.

Teesh values creating an environment where clients have room to be themselves, ask questions, explore challenges, and recognize the abilities and strengths they already possess.

Neurodiversity-Affirming Care

Supporting neurodivergent individuals is at the center of Teesh’s work.

She recognizes that ADHD, autism, and other neurodivergent experiences can influence how people process information, experience emotions, communicate, and interact with the world around them.

These differences can also bring unique strengths, perspectives, and ways of thinking that deserve to be understood and respected.

Teesh works to help clients develop greater awareness of their individual needs while building strategies that support emotional well-being, personal relationships, and daily responsibilities.

Her approach emphasizes self-acceptance and practical support rather than expecting clients to fit into someone else’s idea of how they should think, feel, or behave.

For children and adolescents, she understands the importance of providing developmentally appropriate support that recognizes their individual strengths and needs.

With adults, therapy may include exploring identity, understanding lifelong patterns, developing emotional regulation skills, and finding ways to make daily life feel more manageable.

Supporting Identity & Personal Growth

Teesh understands that mental health and identity are closely connected.

For neurodivergent individuals, developing a better understanding of themselves can be an important part of building confidence and finding strategies that genuinely work.

She creates space for clients to explore their experiences, recognize personal strengths, and develop a deeper understanding of how they relate to themselves and the world around them.

Teesh also recognizes that spirituality and personal beliefs can be meaningful parts of someone’s identity. She approaches these conversations with openness and respect for each person’s individual experiences.

Her goal is to help clients feel supported as they explore what matters most to them and build lives that better reflect their needs, strengths, and values.

Her Role at TrueCandor

In addition to providing individual psychotherapy, Teesh serves as TrueCandor’s Neurodiversity Specialist.

In this role, she collaborates on the development and implementation of neurodiversity-affirming services, helping support the practice’s commitment to providing thoughtful, individualized care for neurodivergent clients.

Her work reflects a belief that meaningful mental health care should recognize and respect neurological differences while providing practical, compassionate support.

A Little More About Teesh

Outside of the therapy room, Teesh enjoys spending time outdoors exploring nature trails with her dog.

She also loves reading, gaming, crafting, and watching anime.

Her appreciation for creativity, individual interests, and different ways of experiencing the world is something she brings into her work with clients.

Above all, Teesh wants people to feel understood and supported as they develop a stronger sense of themselves and discover approaches that work for their lives.

My approach to therapy

Teesh takes a neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based approach to therapy, recognizing that every person's brain works differently and that meaningful support should reflect those differences. Her work focuses on helping clients better understand their experiences, strengthen emotional regulation, explore identity, and develop practical strategies that align with their individual needs. Using an assessment-informed and collaborative approach, Teesh creates a supportive space where neurodivergent clients can recognize their strengths, work through challenges, and build skills that support their everyday lives without feeling pressured to change who they are.
